President

Oleksandr Pankieiev is the president of the Alberta Ukrainian Film Festival and the Alberta Society for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies. He is also the editor-in-chief of the Forum for Ukrainian Studies, an initiative of the Contemporary Ukraine Studies Program at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, University of Alberta. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Ukrainian culture, folklore, ethnography, media, and history and has directed several ethnographic films.

Vice President

​​Olena Goncharova-LaFoy is a development manager and Canadian correspondent for the Kyiv Independent, and the Vice President at the Alberta Society for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies. She has a master’s degree in publishing and editing from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv.

UFF Coordinator in Edmonton

Artem’s main volunteering duty is serving as Treasurer on the board of the Alberta Society for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies. Artem holds a master's degree in Community Engagement from the University of Alberta.

UFF Coordinator in Calgary

Mariana Sirko is a public programs coordinator and museum specialist with a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies and five years of experience at the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Based in Calgary, Alberta, she actively contributes to local cultural initiatives both independently and as a member of the volunteer team at the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Calgary Branch.

Vitaliy is originally from Poltava. He studied International Relations at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. As a newcomer, he is actively engaged in the life of the Ukrainian community, organizing movie screenings and rallies, etc.

Ihor is a long time community activist and volunteer.

Graphic and Website Designer

Stefka is a digital marketer, communications guru, and graphic website designer, who designed our website. She is also an amateur film director and hobby photographer, and connects with her heritage in supporting Ukrainian projects such as this one.
